Hi Don, I am sure I will have some MTH products in the future. I have pre-ordered a Williams scale Hudson and matching cars from Marty at Ma & Pa Junction.
It was a close call on the Williams scale Hudson I nearly went for a MTH Railking Big Boy. But the fact I could easly upgrade the Williams to TMCC swung it. I would have had to add DCS to get all the features of the Big Boy.
A lot of the Lionel Club UK boys have MTH locos. In fact in recent times some of them only bought MTH gear as its designed with 50Hz in mind. Having bought Lionel that did not work. However with the reasonable price of the inverter fix quiet a bit more modern Lionel is now reappearing.
I guess for me if I really think about it there is something special about Lionel.
Its all made in China though so it should make no diffrence[(-D]
Nick
P.S. You can always tell a Brit abroad on Holiday. We always hire the biggest V8 monster we can find. And savour the moment filling it up for about a 1/4 of the cost we would pay at home![oX)]
Don, our English Brothers are really smart. They know better. [;)]
OH NO, I going to agree with FIFE. [:O] Really like the Royals. Only time I had bad feelings was when they mistreateed Dianna. After all, the Eagles/Bridgers use to be Knights and part of the “gang” many years ago.
Jim F, hope the storms stay away from MO. They seem to have a habit of coming from the OK way to you all. We got a little rain and now sun. Only have gotten a few tenths in a couple of weeks. We need a soaker.
Next train project will be to smoke a MTH engine I got cheap from Choochoo and took motors and electronic reverse unit out [may one day put motors back in and install TMCC and sounds ]. Then, next project will be smoking the Atlas SD40 highnose. Oh, atlas can not sell you a smoke unit as thye have an agreement with TSA. Have to get it from TSA.
Got home late last nite, long two weeks. Stepmom passed away shortly after my sister and I got to visit with her. Didn’t have any services in Fl as most all of their friends there had already passed away. Had her services and burial out on Long Island, most of her family is in that part of New York. Sad day for us but I know she is happy, now that she and dad have been reunited.
Now, to sit back with several pots of coffee. I think it will take at least two days to catch up on the “POT”.
Afternoon all, Glad some of you could post while we were shut out,Ihad something to read. I got my 16 ft. boat out in the driveway today. I keep it in the back yard over winter so its out of the way.I get my boys over and with them to help its not hard to get back out front. Now if the wind would ever stop blowing.Anyway I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.
Good Afternoon everyone. Took forever to catch up on the goings on with the “Pot”. Have had a nice weekend, FIL was down and we went out to dinner yesterday. Of course we had some BBQ, Catfish and Grits! When we got home, saw neighbor with his New Holland tractor out doing some work, went over and chatted. He gave me a copy of Trains with his railroad in it…way cool, and then told me to throw any limbs, etc in his dumpster as we have had a few trees go down on our property. Great folks.
Zeke, yeah, Columbus is nice, you wouldn’t recognize it lately as much as it has grown. With the relocation of several thousand soldiers to there, it is getting bigger and better. We may have crossed paths at some point, spent a lot of time there with the marksmanship team and out at Sniper School as well as RTB. Also, a friend of mine owns “Ranger Joe’s”.
Had a great morning at church and then came home and crashed. I am tired. Did some catching up here, will check out the SPF and then get ready for dinner. Chief, Got a friend still at Hood. If you let me know any time you would be heading that way, has axis deer and hogs as well as some other tastey animals. He bought a ranch down that way. I am hoping to make a long weekend and make it down there.
i use to frequent ranger joes alot…spent quite a bit of money there…i really really miss ft benning…my life is so differant now…before it was hurry up and wait all the time…now its do what i want when i want… i always feel like i should be doing something…but since i walk with a cane now do to being shot in the leg i dont get around quite as quick…lol…

Hello All! Chief- Looks like Lazs’ 800lb Bear is getting revenge due to the infamous “Harrisburg Grits Raid”. I didn’t know that Roseyville had a Golf Tournement also.[:)][;)][8D][:o)] Zeke- Scotchbrite makes a Green Scrubing Pad that you can use to clean your Track or even fine sandpaper will do. The Chief & Dennis will probably try to con you into using Grits to clean your Track. [;)] Don’t listen to them- It will corrode your track. Imagine what it does to a Humans Stomach?[xx(][:-^][;)][:P][:o)] Use it to make Mountains instead. Just wait for the corrosive ingredients to neutralize & the stuff will harden like concrete.[;)][;)][:P][:o)][:D] Take Care all.
Scotch pads you know those green pads we used to do KP with those things are the best and will not have to worry about getting pieces of steel (from steel wool) in the gears and messing up your engine.
It was a beautiful, sunny and mild day in SE Indiana. We looked for stoves today, and took a walk this evening. We also had to give Lucas some advice concerning his girlfriend. Evidently she is much more attached to him than either he or we thought, and I think it is making him nervous. I think he wants to break up with her, but he does not want to hurt her. This could get messy. On a positive note, I did get to relax and run the 384E upstairs today for almost two hours. I had a small problem with the caboose occasionally de-railing, but I got that fixed. “Desperate Housewives” is on soon. I see where “Points East” enjoyed the bacon. Regular fare is on tap for tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good day.
Evening all. Wife and I had “only just my day”. One of her sayings. Means you lazy around and do nothing except what you can do being lazy. I did take a shower but “only just my day”, you don’t have to do that. Watered the garden [yes, only a tenth of rain] as wind was blowing so hard. Lisa is right. Windy. Wind blowing leaves off of trees. Grilled [not bar-be-qued, bar-be-que down south is a noun and is pork], London Broil. Almost time for Sopranos. Maybe some trains after. Later
Fife,
I was informed today that women don’t make mistakes, they make changes… [%-)] So she is changing the color of the walls, the curtains will be fine, and the carpet will be replaced with hardwood flooring within a few months of moving in… [:-^]
We stopped at Kohl’s today and she picked up some wall hangings… little plaques to hang ever where… I don’t feel like putting nails all over the place, so what do you use that doesn’t mar up the wall?
Zeke, I am on call this week, but if I can get some time prior to going in, I will get the book sent in the morning. I have it out and your address, so it is ready to go. I think you will find it to be a great resource. A few things to keep in mind regarding cleaning track. First, NEVER NEVER, EVER use steel wool on track. The pieces of metal will get up into the gears of your locomotives and cause lots of problems. Second, make sure the little fiber pieces that isolate the center rail are in place. If you have a continuity meter, check to make sure their is no connection between center rail and grounded outside rails. This would also mean that you should not use any oils, or any fluid that will cause a short. Cleaning track would be a big project if it is already rusted and coroded. If you have the patience, go for it, most will find that they can pick it up cheaply at train shows or even new. Also, check your switches before installing them. Another thing to keep in mind, you don’t have to complete your layout at one time. you can have a track plan that allows for expansion. As time and money allow, you can add another loop, another level, whatever your imagination will give you. If you look at Thor’s web site and Lionel’s, they have some great layouts to start with and most don’t require lots of money to do.
thank you so much…i learned the steel wool bit already…thanks…i went threw all the track and some is rusted completly threw…so i will just save up to buy new track…hope it aint to expensive…i live on a very tight income… so for now i have no trains to set up…real bummer…
and were do you guys buy your track? i searched ebay and some is going for alot while some is cheap…i dont know if i trust buying track of ebay though
Man, where did the weekend go? No rain yet, Chief and Fife, but talked with my Sis-in-Law and it was storming all day in KC and talked to my MiL and it was storming all day about 30 miles South of KC, where they live as well, and they thought it was heading our way. Went to a b-day party at the YMCA for our friends’ daughter, then raced home to get the lawn mowed before any rain showed up. I hadn’t mowed in over a week with all the rain and it too about 3.5 hours, which is about 1 hour or more longer than usual. Then went to Home Depot for some flexible conduit - they now have it in 25 ft rolls, and to Crackerbarrel for some Country Fried Steak, mashed potatoes, white gravy, corn, green beans, and biscuits. Got yelled at for leaving the b-day party early, but some little kid told me I couldn’t sit in the pool area unless I took my shoes off and I had to do so or leave, so I said well, I’ll leave then, and I took off to get to the lawn asap.
Emails say I’ve got train stuff in the mail from Trainz and Charles Ro, so this week will be exciting. My Pirate Aquarium car shipped out, too!
CHIEF, He was suppose to be down eating BUCKEYEs FISH, don’t know why he was trobling GOLFERS, maybe he heard someone say something about the 19th hole?
