CLOSED////////The Coffee Pot is still on and over 3 years. Here we gather as friends with trains.

Houston BAD…UTAH GOOD! Go Jazz!

Now, that is ironic. 46 years ago ( Feb. 9th ), I reported to Fort Knox, also. Army. Then went to Fort Dix, N.J. for basic.

More house item shopping today after mowing the backyard and bagging the grass… took 15 yard waste bags… need a beer. New sofa arrived today, looks real nice. Wife is now unsure about colors because it doesn’t look like she remembered [%-)][:-^], guess I shouldn’t say anything… stopped at JcPenny on way home from FiL’s, bought new Tiffany style table lamp for foyer table… bidding on faucets, shower head, roman tub faucet for bathroom, and new kitchen faucet. Good evening all,

It has been a busy day and weekend so far. Went to Lucas’ show last night, “Suessical”, which was actually pretty good. The retiring music director, who usually built a show around one of her “pets”, for once picked a show that allowed several kids to shine, and most of them did a credible job. We got home and watched taped versions of “Close to Home” and “Numb3rs”. Went to bed at 1 AM and got up at nine as I thought we were going to Spiderman 3 at noon and I had to get the yard mowed. Turned out I was wrong about the movie, but I did get the yard mowed and the house swept before 3PM so we could go to a graduation reception and then to a mass for my mom at 4 PM. My dad is not Catholic and never went to church with mom, but everytime there is a mass for her, he goes. Got some food to go from Chilis tonight and then went back to the high school to see the art exhibit. Then the wife wanted to go Goodwill and she got some shirts for Lucas. Was going to watch the NASCAR race, but it was rained out. Tomorrow the track opens for practice for the “Greatest Race in the World”. I had the usual fare for breakfast this morning, but I may have bacon on the dining car for “Points East” tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Lol thats pretty good! And true…no offense

Evening. Queen came to the South [VA and KY] for a good bowl of GRITS. [bow]

Train meet was as usual. Not much to it. Finished my wiring project in the back trainroom. Added a ground plain and then outlets under the back benchwork. Fun working breaker pannel hot behind part of the benchwork.

Finally getting some rain. Went by Miss Edna’s today. Everything from MTH is on backorder. HUMMMM

Army, what I did in 68 and 69.

HI GIZ,

Sunny, warm to hot and humid in St. Louis. Finally a day without rain. My lawn is about 8 feet tall now after all the rain this week - have to mow tomorrow no doubt about it. Worked in the basement all day. Put up another light fixture in an overhang area and ran that wire to the switch, then wired the remaining 2 light switches in that room (3-ways). Had to run out and get a wire lug that would hold 5 ground wires! Couldn’t run the last 6 feet to the load center, though, because I forgot to buy flexible conduit - have to pick up tomorrow. Went out tonight with my friend and got some pizza, then went to Spiderman 3, which was great! Then grabbed a small blizzard at Dairy Queen and home again. Watched the Lake Placid 2 movie we taped off scifi channel while I was camping last weekend – it was good for a tv movie, but the spfx were not as good as the original and not as much humor. John Schneider was good in it though.

Although allegedly a nice back hander of crisp readies to the ruling politician’s helps pave the way for it to be bestowed.

Have been working this weekend, although bank holiday Monday I am off. As you say John B its bound to rain[:D]

Pre-ordered the new Lionel Hogwarts Express set for Charlies Xmas present last night. GWR Hall class and 3 BR MK 1 coaches. The samples look really good so fingers crossed.

Hope you all have a good Sunday

Nick

Her royal nibs would not eat ‘Grits(oat cakes)’ as they are ‘peasants fare’. The Queen travels for free, the pleb’s have to pay. I don’t know if you guys know this, but the UK has no proper written constitution so the establishment led by (guess who)? Can manipulate the system to suit themselves. This has led to a strong republican movement that sees the royal family as a parasitic anachronism. On a personal note, Charlie would make a good King. But his mum is set not to abdicate and as her mom lived to over 100, we look like we’re stuck with her for another 20 yrs. The rules of accession are that the Head of State passes down the male line from Monarch to elder son and so on, King George VI had no sons hence QE II. A lot of us like Charlie because he has a mind of his own and is not frightened of being controversial.

Phew that’s a load off my chest!

On the price of gas; You should complain! I paid the equivalent of $8.50 for a gallon of unleaded yesterday. And it’s forecast to be $10.00 by the year end (70% is tax).

Hope to run my Lionel puffer at the Ilkley meet thanks to the ganerosity of a fellow member of the UK Lionel thingy

.

Nick,

Is it a Lionel or a Hornby?

John Baker & Nick
Since you fellas have the voltage and power resolved, how is it never hear you talk about MTH trains? Just curious.

And, I thought we had it bad about the petro, at $3.50 a gallon, but that is not an Imperial Gallon either, still a bit much.

Good night all, till tomorrow

Don,

I am still very much the new boy around here and MTH are not Lionel with which I am already having trouble getting my head around any way.

0930BST in a damp and windy Stockport. Going to stay home and take a trio of Dash9s with a 50 car intermodal over Marias.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill…

It is a sunny 50 degrees. Going up to 70 today, with sunshine all day.

Today, I am going to be outside, most of the day. I want to take advantage of the nice weather. Have a few chores to do, and work around the yard. We are getting an area ready to plant a small garden, behind the house. Morning sun and afternoon shade. Ran trains for a few hours, yesterday. Just relaxed and enjoyed it.

Dining Car arrived with a load of bacon. Must be from " Points west ". Time for breakfast.

Saturday night NASCAR race cancelled for rain. Running at 1 pm today.

Y’all have a great Sunday.

Chuck

Lionel O gauge. If it looks as good as the pre-production samples they have a winner. No British outline 3-rail O gauge manufacture can touch Lionel on the price. $299 rrp I paid $224. That would only just about buy a coach or two let alone a full set!

Nick

Chuck, Glad you posted the reschedule time! I was planning on watching the race and didn’t record it, but was out in the train room and before you know it, it was too late. So that was the first thing on my mind this am, is wonder what time the race is rescheduled too. Maybe Jr. will do better this week.

Also, saw on another thread that you had gotton email from some giz that they couldn’t get on, maybe its just you and I to hold the fort down.

Plan on putting up G scale track today. Got to get it clean, and see exactly how much I have. Should have enough for one circuit on my elevated shelf. Then got to start hunting any deals I can find.

Have a great day!

John,

Thanks for telling me about the 4-6-0. The set got here on Friday, and I ran it just to check that everything woks correctly since it will be in the box for the next 7 months and 19 days. It smokes a bit differently than other MTH steamers, but it smokes heavily on medium. Had to turn the smoke off because it started to bother my eyes and nose. Never had that happen before.

Mornin’ boys. Red flag warning here in the Mid-Atlantic today. We need some of that rain Fortner has been talking about. I see the Chief is showing off his missile…again…

jefelectric - perhaps a nice grits bath will help with the burn…

Bakeer - we like the *Royals…*wouldn’t seem right without them, so sorry, they have to stay.

88 - I make my wife look at color samples before the money is spent, so that there is no doubt in what shades will look like.
