It was 72 and sunny here today with a nice cool breeze… it was awesome because we could be warm and drive with the windows down!
I almost forgot… wife purchased the first item for the new train room… a Lionel Wall Clock! I wasn’t supposed to know about it yet, but when we were loading the car at the mall it fell out when she put the bag in the car… she was so mad. So I’m not alloud to have till our aniversary… two days after we move in…
Jim, I understand your loss. Buried our faithful under the trees last fall. She is surely missed.
Don, Great joke.
Bad day at the office so to speak. The corn and pumpkins seedlings needed irrigating today. Set about turning on the irrigation water for the first time this year, only to have the 3" irrigation valve break off. Lots of fun trying to use the key to turn off the stop and waste valve under a 3" shower. Glad it was 70 today.
Hello All! Jim & Doug - Sorry about your losses. Keep your Chins up. Don B- I didn’t know you took your Pet Fish for a Walk. Do they stay away from Trees & Fire Hydrants?[;)][:P][:o)][:o)] Take Care all.
Back to work this morning only to find that the AC broke in our building and the 4th floor has no air exchange or cooling! Of course, this is where I work. After a few folks took off sick, they opened the stairwell and hooked up a giant fan that sounds like the Hindenberg is trying to land on our roof! It was about 87 out today and I think about 82 at my desk. Hopefully it will be fixed - they said in a couple days. Until then, they are running the fan. The 2nd floor is getting all the air, so it is like 50 degrees down there. So much for government efficiency. What a mess. Jim, sorry to hear about your dog - she was sure a nice looking dog and I’ll bet she was a great comfort. Chewy is only a little over 2 years old - hope she makes it to 17 like Chief’s peke (?). Sorry, can’t go back and look while I’m typing. Great joke, Don. Buckeye, the pick I had posted, that won’t show up on my computer now, was a frogman beating the Creature from the Black Lagoon with a rifle - I thought you would like it (it was supposed to be you on your fishing expedition, after you poisoned the lake with grits). I guess if you have to explain it, it ain’t funny. No trains today, but my new locomotive should be here tomorrow thanks to the great folks at Fedex, and also expecting some cars I won on ebay, some o gauge cows, and my pirates aquarium car - I expect the kids will love that one! Hey, John Baker - what is ERNI anyway? Is that you internet provider or your PC?
BRENT - those adhesive hangers Dennis was talking about are called COMMAND. They really do work well but are not low profile and may protrude too far from the wall. Maybe John had used other types that are just basically a very sticky tape - those will pull the paint and sheet rock off.
Evening. Long day. County Commissioner meeting lasted past 6PM. rushed back to Roseyville for Town Board [7 PM start time but was 7:15 before we all got to meeting hall]. Got to eat when I got home. Ate my microwave popcorn while watching Westerns Channel. Now having desert [Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate with Almonds nuggets]. I’ll get back to trains one day. Everyone wants some of my time. Later.

Zeke, Really great pictures are they in Shasta County?
John (csxt30) Glad you like the Sony classes, I’ve been trying to get tuition assistance from the VA but havn’t had any success. I have enjoyed all the classes from there, I’ve done some on video, audio, home entertainment, computers, etc… They have all been worth the time.
I was too late to post on Photo Sunday, so I put up a deliquent post with some pictures. Got home tonight got my G Scale track cleaning car couplers changed and it is now running, also put a chuff sound in the LGB Mogul I have, doesn’t whistle yet but it smokes, and chuffs. Tomorrow work on the lights on the passenger cars.
Morning folks. Been up and brewed a fresh pot at 4:30 AM. Couldn’t sleep any more as the Mrs. was [zzz] pretty loud. She arrived home yesterday after the non-wedding - wedding party in FL. She had a great time with her brothers and sisters. Today is moving day… going to Morgantown to move the Boy back home for the summer. Dread making the round trip and the clean-up mess in one day. Then we are back to Morgantown Saturday for graduation on Sunday.
Found out yesterday that the job I interviewed for last week is not being announced tomorrow[banghead]. Seems that they will now announce it on May 23rd. The wait is dreadful. At this point i just want to know… I guess two more weeks won’t kill me.
Another T-riffic day on tap here. Temps in the low 80s and plenty of sun. Will mow the lawn and try to clean out the train room tonight.
A visit to Dr. Tinker might also be in the cards.
And lest I forget, how about a great big Happy Birthday to Melissa Gilbert today?! She is 43 and is most remembered as the little girl (Laura) on Little House on the Prairie. Do a Google image seach of her now. She’s done some serious growing up!!!
ERNI is a derisive corruption of a piece of equipment used in the selection of ‘premium bond prizes’ ERNIE=Electronic Random Number Indicating Equipment. My machine is an Electronic Ranting Nerd Infuriator.
It is a sunny 44 degrees. Going up to 82 today, with sun all day.
Today we are driving up to Cambridge, to do some shopping and pick up a few things. Wife has to stop at Art studio and get her art picture, from her classes. And groceries, which is a bummer. Maybe , later I will be able to relax in train room. I will need it after shopping. Gas prices are still on the rise. Over 3 bucks a gallon now. This is nuts.
Dining Car has rolled in and is ready. Time for breakfast.
Tired here… up late working on my school paper… [zzz]
Don, love the pics of the Elevated track! The all-door box cars are awesome too, and again thanks for the info and pics of the cleaning cars!
Mitch - have safe trips to WVU! And I hope you get the job!
Laz - Careful of those ticks. Saw a new report that Lime Disease can take up to a year to be diagnosed and if it takes that long it is typically fatal?
Buckeye - Glad to see you make it back from Kentucky in one piece. Notice you have no photographic evidence that you were fishing, and caught something, so till then you were just lazying around on a lake in a boat drinkin some beers. [;)]
Chief - You sound like my mother’s ‘retired’ cousin. Until he had a heartattack he was working 40 hour weeks after he retired. Before that he worked 60 hour weeks. He was a chicken farmer for most of his life. If you are looking for a good BBQ chicken recipe try this:
1 egg (wisked)
1 cup vegetable oil - add after wisking egg
2 cups red cider vinegar
2 Tablespoons Poultry Seasoning
2 teaspoons Black Pepper
1 teaspoon Sale
This was the recipe that his father developed when he was doing BBQs for large gatherings back in the 30’s and 40’s. It is a blend of The Pennsylvania State University and Cornell University BBQ Chicken Sauces. It takes great, but tastes better if you do half chickens over a large pit using charcoal and hickory. Just make sure you watch your chicken because flare-ups are common with this sauce!
Good morning from beautiful OHIO. Gorgeous day. Not hot, sticky and stinky like the weather in NC. [:D]
The Ohio economy is going to take a big hit. Ford has announced the closing of plants near Cleveland.
88 - Too busy fishing to take photos, plus we put on the rain-suits several times. When the boat is going 40 MPH and it is raining you find out quickly the quality of your rain-suit.
Municipal mayoral election today. Is the Chief running today for the mayor of Roseyville?
Good morning to all. Maybe 81 today, but the wind is still blowing. In my teens, my grandfather and I use to fish near the Ky. dam as we have family near Benton & Murray, fond memories. I’ve tried to do the same with my grandsons, hope they remember…I hope the loss of pets has past, seems so sad. A good day to all. Mich. Jim
Cool here this morning, down to upper 40s, and high 70s later. That will be good for the firefighters on the line here in South Georgia. The winds from the past few days have had their toll on the guys and caused some spreading of the blaze. The timber companies have lost a lot of trees, so for those getting ready to build benchwork, the price of timber will certainly go up.
Had lots of fun with the grandkids yesterday, we wore ourselves out playing and planting outside. It was fun. Going to cut grass for a friend and car clean-up, then there is always study. Got the papers done for this week so just reading now.
