Got a little bit too early of start yesterday Chuck, ended up with the unauthorized version. Never did get around to reposting them.
Mornin’ boys. Hey Doug, hey Phish, tough stretch. Let me pick up the tab today.[;)]
88 - Nails. And a level.
Laz57 - Indians still looking better than my O’s right now.
CHIEF - Perhaps if you take your shower IN your garden, you’d have that much more time to spend doin’ nothing…[8]
Buckeye - Your serve.
I don’t want to put holes in the walls! Guess I’m outta luck… [%-)]
BTW - Wife just emailed… she got tickets for Wednesday’s game against the Rays… [8D] First game at Camden Yards [^], told ya she was a keeper!
Good morning from a sunny and cool Chicago where I didn’t get to visit the layout for the entire weekend. I finally recovered from Saturday night’s onslaught of teenagers - and subsequent drama about the daughter’s party… I did read through six Model Railroaders whilst keeping an eye on things. Last evening, the middle boy debuted as lead electric guitar in his church youth group band. He was upset with himself for the mistakes he made in playing - but I told him not to worry – and the mix was loud enough that it didn’t matter. I enjoyed taking the youngest to see Spiderman 3 on Saturday. The best part was his costume: imagine a 3 ft tall self-assured Spiderman, complete with pull-over mask. Now if only I had remembered to go as Batman, we would’ve given our fell0w-theater-goers something to talk about…
Doug and Jim - my condolences on your loss.
Zeke, I took my Dremel motor tool to a bunch of rusty track and cleaned the tops of the rails enough to run things smoothly - the rust adds to the ambiance.
Jim, so sorry for the loss. Just went through that myself. As was posted, too many of us here with such stories.
Doug, sorry for the loss. As was said, very hard to keep up with the posts flying by.
Brent, 3M makes a hook with removable adhesive strips. I used these for putting Christmas wreathes on our front windows. These should work for you. WalMart and many other places have them. They are a little on the pricy side, but if She Who Must Be Obeyed does not want holes in the wall, that is the best option. If small holes are permitted (about pin size), I bought picture hanging sets from Home Depot that have a hook with a separate nail/pin that is simply pushed at a downward angle into the wall. These work very well and when removed, the hole is hardly noticeable.
Hope everyone is having a good day. I have to swing by the UPS store and send some packages out and then it is off to work. Chief, I am sure you will be able to fend off any yankee invasion while I am busy.
For those across the pond, heard one of your locomotive shops finished the last steam restorations and is being changed into “something else”. I believe this was part of the Great Western.
Well, gotta run, God Bless,
Dennis
Doug (dabrump) Sorry to hear about your loss! Glad to see you back safely. BTW, a couple of new leftcoasters since you’ve been gone. (Zeke, and Misty) Will be heading your way on the 15th, presentation for SDPCUG at the Ed Center on the hill.
Jim - Tough day GOOD LUCK !
Great news, got one train running on my elevated G-Scale shelf. Ran out of track so have to start searching. Boy, is that stuff expensive.
Have a great day all
Thanks Dennis, I thought I saw something like the 3M hooks… I’ll mention it to the wife and see what she thinks… maybe find them in bulk somewhere on-line…
Don,
Awesome news on the elevated track! How about some pics?
Morning. Getting ready to go to County Commissioners meeting in Raleigh. Then Roseyville Town Board tonight. Meet all day and night. Was upstairs working on MTH smoke unit I picked up cheap. Would work some and then not. Found the loose solder joint in the board and re-soldered it. Fixed. Now to make a bracket to mount it in the Conrail dummy I made up from old MTH conventional engine. Has lights. Looks good mixed in with NS lash ups. Got to go.
Doug, sorry for the Step-mother loss. Jim, sorry for yours too. Pek is 17 so anytime with him.
God bless.
Morning all!
Jim - sorry about your dog.
Doug - Welcome back. Sorry for your loss. Glad all is well now.
Foundation crew is here. Rear of the house has been jacked up and leveled as best they can. Trenches being dug for tree root barriers. From what I see - may have to have some older foundation piers on the front of the house dug out and and have the house jacked up a bit there to allow a couple of other doors to close. Door in daughters room closes correctly for first time in several years.
Yesterday was very busy. Mowed lawn and cleaned pool filter and scrubbed pool. Kids swam in it for first time this season.
I went to early church. Wife went to 11:00 service. I get a call from my wife at 12:30 that her car won’t start and it sounds like a dead battery (battery only 2 years old). A friend at the church had a battery jump box and got her going. Got home and tried to start and starter relay just chatters. Put the voltmeter on it and just 10 volts. Checked the battery cell by cell and each measures 2.2 or more volts. Last cell is 0 volts. Shorted cell. Took it back to Sears and they gave me another one no charge (it is a 100 month warranty battery). First time I have had a Die-Hard not get close to its warranty date. So I got to spend part of the day dealing with the battery issue. [:(!]
I have to leave town tomorrow for a 2 day trip to Wash DC for some public safety interoperability meetings. Back late Thurs night.
What a day it is out there! Sunny and mid 70’s. I decided to take an extra long walk. The sun felt great.
As I walked I thought about building some shelves for some of our trains. We are running out of room under the layout. I’d like to make the shelves look like an old Lionel display. We’ll see…
Jim
<>Heard that during Buckeye’s fishing trip he had a run in with the game marshall in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan ---- As reported by CNN
An Upper Michigan man was stopped by a game warden in the UP
recently with two ice chests full of live fish in water, leaving a river wellknown for its fishing.
The game warden asked the man, “Do you have a license to catch thosefish?”
“Naw, my friend, I ain’t got no license. These here are my pet fish.”
“Pet fish?”
“Yep. Every night I take these fish down to the river and let ‘em
swim’ round for a while. Then I whistle and they jump right back into this ice chest and I take 'em home.”
“That’s a bunch of BS! Fish can’t do that!”
The man looked at the game warden for a moment and then said, It’s the truth. I’ll show you. It really works."
“Okay, I’ve GOT to see this!”
The man poured the fish into the river and stood and waited. After
several minutes, the game warden turned to him and said, “Well?”
“Well, what?” said the man.
“When are you going to call them back?”
“Call who back?”
“The FISH!”
“What fish?”
Zeke, The Greenberg’s Manual is on its way. It should arrive UPS on Monday.
dennis
Thanks guys for the condolences. I appreciate it. She will be missed.
Don - Love the fish joke[:D]
It is beautiful in Southern Ohio!! Perfect temp and humidity. My prayers to any folks who were impacted by the storms. Grandkids are coming up for me to watch while my daughter has night class. This is usually a fun time. With the weather so nice we’ll be outside. They usually get dirty when playing with Papa[:-^] We may sow Zennia seeds. Need to run to the store before they get here.
May God bless you all
Jim
Fortunately for many fisherman, I left many fish for them to catch in Kentucky Lake. [:D]
WHAT A LAKE!!! Kentucky Lake is 160,000 acres. Much of the shoreline is undeveloped. We fished Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately, we did not place in the top three, so as to be awarded trophies. The tournament was sponsored by a website, BASS Boat Central. My buddy and I ran the lake in his new BASS CAT Bass Boat.
My heart goes out to those people in Kansas. Ohio has had its share of big twisters. Do we have anyone on the forum from Kansas?
Doug, sorry to hear about your family’s loss.
Jim, sorry about the dog.
Busy, busy, busy…
See ya down the tracks,
Good afternoon,
Jim, My condolences on your loss.
Brent, My experence with the stick on hangers is that they are worse than small nails. The ones I tried tended to tear off the dry wall paper when you tried to remove them. That made a bigger mess than a small nail hole.
Went to the fitness center this morning and after lunch painted two porch chairs. Glad that’s done.
Might get a chance to run trains one of these days.
Take care,
Beautiful day in downtown, rural Ohio.
Cut the back grass. Again. Grass is growing at a fast rate… Spent time playing with Woo. ( Rocky’s brother )
Doug… ( dagrump ) Sorry about your loss of your Step Mom.
Jim… Sorry about your dog. We miss Rocky badly.
