Man oh man, think we need to bring a record changer in, hook it up, and play our records! And maybe add a juke box, and load it up with 45s! Wouldn’t that be neat!
Well, I did get the charcoal grill and the propane grill going this morning. Now, we have some nice cod, perch, catfish and bass on it’s way to the warmer bar, to join the fries & hush puppies, baked beans and corn on the cob. In the cooler are cole slaw and potato salad, along with the regular desserts for today.
And for those of you who won’t be back until Tuesday, grab some containers, fix them up, and take home with you for your supper tonight.
And my wish today, is for all of you to have a safe and happy holiday weekend; and come back next week all in one piece!!
I am having trouble getting out of here in one piece! Talked to Joe this morning - so will ask here what I ask him…
Doing some Xmas Shopping and would like to buy (for The Driver, of course) (listen/read carefully): Some SD70 (Cream & Green) locomotive hubcaps. All wheels should have hubcaps, so I am just sure there are some SD70 hubcaps out there somewhere. (wouldn’t that look classy!)
This will be a hunt like the Yellow Thingies was, only this time they may be harder to find. Slightly used is ok…
Excuse me while I giggle to myself and go hunt up lunch…
…Well now Ed, you’re dredging up memories…For me, back in '64, I put together a pair of AR-3’s, with AR Turntable powered by an H H Scott Receiver. A bit later, quite a bit later, that changed into ADS speakers , Lab Turntable, and powered by a Marantz reciever…Speakers are still in operation and since have had back of the room {surround sound}, stuff added and powered by Sony and some more peripherals…But you know what, I really don’t use it much anymore…I really should, instead of looking at this screen so much.
Ed and Quentin, (and Mookie) back then you could replace tubes in your sound systems.
You didn’t have to replace the entire thing because a tube or early transistor failed.
Nowdays, it’s cheaper to replace entire stuff.
We still have a turntable, bunches of LPs,45s, etc. Don’t see us going to the “Flea Market” Soon!
Dan, I’d rather fire a .45, but I’m not going to use my 45s for target practice!!
Mook, give me a chance, and I’ll start looking through catalogs and see if I can find anything besides coffee cups.(not sure I like or agree with color, I like blue & yellow better)(although if you send me some hubcaps, I probably could paint them the color you all want and put decals on them.)
Joe, a CD came in the mail today (JUST) that I’m very anxious to look at, just haven’t had a chance yet.
mutt you’ll like the CD.saw some more of rotors for the big windmills going west to chicago on q 500 today.wonder where they are headed too??? They way mookie was talking she wanted the hubcaps for millie.I know a couple guys who do that kind of work but i need the size of millies wheels.Cw thanks for supper.
Okay, I know I’m running late for everyone on EDT for supper, but tonight’s fish is hot off the grill, and on the warmer bar. Also replenished the sides of fries, hush puppies, cole slaw, etc., and baked more pies and cakes this afternoon.
And I also made more tea and lemonade, fruit punch and grape Kool-Aid.
Okay, I’ve worn myself out today. Been up since 4:40 this morning, and I’m ready to go collapse in my rocker/recliner!!
…Joe…Just a comment on the wind mills. My sis in law over near Somerset, Pa. explained to me today on email of seeing “the longest type semi” hauling more wind mill props…{They generally are 95 or so ft. in length}, applied to the ones that have been built and put in use the last decade in that area.
And of course this signals more are under construction. That area now has several dozen…They are in Somerset and Shade townships.
Mutt: Look for Mookie’s combination hubcaps/dinner plates up on the top back shelf between the muffler bearings and the spare left-handed sprocket wrencH [swg][swg][swg]
45’s??? How about 78 RPM? I have some RR sounds on 78 that I would love to get onto my PC and cell phone.
I bought some Schwann’s “Ice Cream and Chocolate cake” for dessert, but the Porcelain Managerie ambushed me at the door and took it away from me. I tried to get it back, but 4 of them held me at bay with their their 6-inch hat pins, while they divvied it up amongst themselves! Fiesty things when it comes to sweets!
I did find their stash of De Beukelear “Creme de Pirouline Chocolatier” cookies… there was one unopened packet left in the cannister… help yerselves.
Good Saturday morning, folks!! I imagine things will be very quiet in here this weekend; but there will be folks in here, making sure there are beverages, things to eat, and songs to listen to, videos and DVDs to watch, along with watching the real live 1/1 trains going by the Diner.
SV, thanks for bringing in the cookies!!
Fresh coffee is ready, along with freshly made tea and lemonade. Managed to get a couple of Gatorade tanks in, and made breakfast. On today’s menu:
bacon, sausage, homemade buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, pancakes of different flavors & waffles, cantaloupe and watermelon chunks and blueberry, apple/cinnamon muffins.
Everyone have a great day (looks like it’s going to be a terrific day, just about anywhere in the country), and I’ll see you all tonight for SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST.
Modelcar Q500 goes from cincinnati to chicago(uses the wye at deshler).a beautiful morning outside.matt and i are going to get our new glasses then we are going to go to my mom and dads house.they are celebrating 55 years.will be back for pizza later.
…78’s…Yes, that’s going back a bit far. I sure know about them but have none and no means to play any if I did. Did play them as a kid though at grandma’s place with a wind up Victrola.
I have a 33 with RR’s sounds on it that is pretty good, but since I didn’t have the turntable connected for quite a few years now, of course haven’t heard it for years.
Well, Mooks could consider taking the hubcaps off the back truck of the DD40AX that Driver had to stuff and mount in their backyard. (on the side that touches the fence as opposed to the side that touches the back porch - who needs grass anyhow?)[:D]
(Grabs several slices of Supreme topping pizza [dinner] )
By the way, you might want to bring out a few beers for University of Michigan fans–their highly-touted football team lost to Appalachian State by a final score of 34-32. [:O] Has to be one of the biggest upsets in quite a few years–well, not really given that Appalachian State did win the 1-FCS (e.g., 1-AA) championship two years in a row.
