Mornin’ boys. Snohizo here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Man has it been polar. Even worse in the mountains of WV. Did some house-hunting, visited with my folks, and wound up bringing my toddler nephew back to Baltimore. All together, the weekend was kinda a big bust. Either way, gotta get fifedom ready for market.
Buckeye - prefer Buckeyes to grits, anyday, anywhere.
Cold 27 and damp to the bone. Got to get out there and clear the lane from all the drifting last night. Wife has the day off so will just hang out. Maybe move the bucket into the shed and start looking at the grapple assembly needs.
Here is a shot or two of the Grapple I will be putting on the John Deere bucket.
Here it is. Painted, assembled, and mocked up to height of top of bucket so I can see what I need to do to get it to close where I want it.
Messy good morning. Sleet and freezing rain. Highways are the problem. Ground been frozen for several days. Suppose to get warmer during the day and tonight.
Trip to Charlotte Bass Pro Shops [Friday thru Sunday] was OK but nothing special. Crowd was down. Got paid anyway.
Hope all are doing OK.
PS: Kevin, what you going to do with that big thing? Break up ice, ground or pull trees??? That is a rough and tuff looking thing.
Chief it will be used to save my back. All of the ash trees are dead or about to be because of that bug. I will have a lot of wood and brush to move to the burn pile this year. I did not think I could afford a whole grapple at like $1,500.00 for the use it would get so I am installing this to the top of the bucket and it will be used like in this video.
We went out for steak and lobster yesterday for Valentine’s day. It was very good.
Wife has been complaining of pain at the surgery site where they removed Squamish cell carcenoma resently. It appears to be all healed up so maybe it’s internal. Called surgeon today to discover he is on vacation for another week. Will call primary doctor for his advice. I am worried that it might be a blood clot or something gone wrong in the healing process.
Only day this week today with no appointments. She sees her oncologist tomorrow for yearly visit following some test.
We put in an appearance at the TTOS Southwestern meet on Sunday. It was open to the public and there were lots of sellers. Did not stay long because wife get’s tired of it fast. We just went for the ride mainly and to eyeball the Gold Line light rail for test trains. There were none on Sunday but saw a lot of them last week. Line opens from Azusa to L.A. starting March 5th.
Our sometimes live in son is making himself scarce lately. Spending a lot of time with his fiancee. Oldest son came for a visit yesterday and went out to eat with us.
Good checkup at the doctor’s office. Blood pressure was down, but that will change when I go back to work. Finally N&W 201 running again. Lionel does not make anything easy to work on, or it may be I have the manual dexterity of an amoeba. Any way, it pulls all the N&W cars I have easily. Wife and I bought a treadmill today. Will pick it up Friday or Saturday. Some assembly required. There goes the weekend. I hope everyone has a good day.
Yeah - the ash borer is a real devil. It has taken out nearly every ash tree in our ~10 year old neighborhood. Thankfully the developer had the common sense to use some species diversity in the trees they planted so the whole place cannot get denuded in one fell swoop.
Just got out of bed. maybe head to Farm and Fleet after some coffee.
JT there are streets in Plainfield where I grew up and lived till 2007 that they planted all Ash trees between the sidewalks and the street. Now the city has to remove them all because they are dead. Out here in the woods I would say the ash make up about 20% of our wood or less. Thank God for that.
Not going to say it is 70 and sunny here. 80 by Thurs - down to 50’s for weekend.
AT&T came and implemented a temporary fix to the fiber optic line to the house yesterday. Permanent fix is in a couple of weeks when someone shows up to bury a new cable. Not going to charge me as it was supposed to be 6-16 inches below grade.
Cleaning up around the house. So many projects that they are becoming all one mess.
Busy day at work. Pain one and pain two were both in fine form today. Went to foot doctor this afternoon. Several steps (so to speak) will be taken to help me make it 13.1 miles on May 7th. (better living thru pharmaceuticals!) Izombie is on tonight. Hope it is not as dark as last week’s episode. I hope everyone has a good day.
Looks like I’m going to work on some of the bus collection to see if we can get them ready to drive over to the new location.
Seeing the dermatologist next week and then scheduled to see the gastroenterologist next month for the every so often spelunking expedition. You know the one that involves sitting on the can and imitating a space shuttle launch?
Saw in MR (yes, boys, your advertizing does work:) that Kato has come out w/ a sound box that works w/ DC. Separate sound card w/ it’s own speaker. Think I’m going to look into that instead of DCC for the N-scale layout.
Found a good video on youtube of Alcos in Arizona. Neat stuff there and, of course, lots of smoke. Gave me some ideas for the layout.
Evening all from a comfortable mid 30’sF Southern Ohio,
Kids were out of school Monday for president’s day, then last night we got snow/ice/rain and so they had a snow day today. It warmed up into the mid 30’s so there was a lot of melting.Bride and I went to Columbus for a follow up appointment with the twins and on the way got a call to come into work a night shift.Bleh.I slept on the way home but will still make for a long night.Bad part is after this night shift, I’ll be off one night then start my regular set of night shifts. The bouncing from days to nights can be rough especially on quick turn arounds.I sometimes get grumpy or so I am told.[%-)]
RT-I tested the loco set you sent one last time before the school auction and it worked great.I’ll let you know how it sells at the school auction.
KRM- The thumb would be a great help with brush and anything else you want to keep in the bucket.
I read on the MR forum that Nscale DCC sound dosn’t work very good.
We have had unusually warm for Feb. it was 90 today but cooler tomorrow. It’s truly summer like, Tshirt and shorts and the doors open.
I rear ended a pickup a while ago with my 98 Integra GSR. I really like this car and was quite discouraged for a while, After working on it it now only has the front bumper damaged, it didn’t hurt the rest of the car at all.
I called every junkyard in the yellow pages that specialized in foreign cars and as I expected no front bumper.
I just waxed the car including the wheels and it really looks good, you only see the damage from the front.
Aloha. Sunny and warmer today - might hit 50 by Friday! (then colder again but heading in the right direction). Bob, I hate wonky kit decals. The Stratocruiser sounds like a real pain. I still use an MRC sound box on the layout. It’s very old but I can adjust the steam chuff and ‘quill’ the whistle - and switch it to a generic diesel and horn. Fun for the visiting kids to use. The KATO box looks great! JT, our subdivision developer used all ash trees along the sidewalks - they’re all coming down now. Wonder what the city will use to replace them?
KRM thank’s for the link to a front bumper for my Integra. I had no idea such a thing existed. I got all excited and went through the ordering process until I got to the added shipping cost and then the total was $306 and I know it would cost another $300 to get it painted and I balked. I’ll think about it.
That was on the 1st one, the 2nd one seems frozen up, I’ll try again tonight. Thank’s again.
