Is MTH a player in HO....

Dinwitty, all of the wheels and drivers were too narrow. The drivers are not nearly as far out as the trailing truck wheelset was, so I think they are going to be OK. I have a puller and quartering tool fron NWSL (I built a few Bowser locomotives in the past) but I would have to agree with Rob, there should not be a problem like this. It would not be more than a minor inconveniance (sp) for me to fix but for others it could very well be a major, if not impossible, project.

All that being said, I am still amazed by how smooth this thing runs. I turned the sound off and all you can hear is the wheels rolling on the track. I snakes through #6 Atlas crossovers with no problem. As far as the DCC/DCS issue is concerned, as I said in a previous post, I am a straight DC guy but I will be going DCC in the future, not DCS.

To sum up, if MTH decides to produce any of the Yellowstone locomotives (hint: EM-1[:D]) that are as nice as this one, I will be all over 'em like a cheap suit!!

As a matter of fact, considering the animosity that is so prevalent across the HO world for MTH, IMHO a Yellowstone (hint; EM-1[:D]) would be nothing short of a PR coup for them. I’ll guarantee one thing, the first company to produce one of these thing is going to clean up.

Rats if MTH does a Yellowstone then I guess it’s brass for me.

I wouldn’t be so quick as to gauruntee success of any venture unless you plan to buy them all. I certainly wouldn’t be buying one strictly becasue it isn’t a PRR prototype. i suspect most modelers who follow a prototype are in the same predicament.

If MTH does a B&O EM1 or the DM&IR M4, I will buy it. The MTH models run well and the DCS will work on DCC without every single feature like sound from passing trains. Who needs that?? My passing train sound is another HO train going by with QSI. Soundtrax or Loksound.

One of the MTH sounds is a track wreck. Who needs that??? After the train wreck sound, the unit is off lne and has to be started up again. Some of the features are pure Toy Train like the American Flyer models that I started with many years ago.

I to belong to the “if MTH produce a EM-1” I’ll buy one ore more. But still I know that everyone do not share my goals. Still, there is always a lot of talk about these engines, just like it is about the Yellowstone’s so I think there could be a market. I’ve never heard about a huge demand for the triplex though.

As long as the engines runs fine on DCC I’m in, I and I guess a lot for other people do not care about what is inside or if you can adjust every CV, we just want a trouble free time playing with our trains.
