Greetings humans! Take me to your ladder… 61 and partly cloudy in Carolina with 70 and rain promised for later. Not a whole lot to report, so thanks for breakfast and everyone have a great day.
…Overcast and quite cool and fog, started our day here. Dry still, but a possibility of some rain later.
Successfully accomplished my yard mowing / leaf mulching yesterday. John Deere and I had a good run at the final clean up of the yard for this season. Most leaves {here}, are down off the trees now.
Actually, overlapped enough to equal at least 2 or more mowings…
So this year I actually got away without bagging one bag of leaves…! All accomplished with doing the mowing / mulching bit each week for a couple of weeks, and it seems we were rather successful, and looks good. Now need rain / snow {oh no…}, for moisture next Spring for it to fully recover from our Aug. to current, draught.
Believe I remember seeing 35 on the instrument earlier this morning.
Did remember to put new batteries in the outdoor temp sending unit, so I’m good thru the Winter season.
Removed the shells from 2 doz. hard boiled eggs this morning to be “pickled” and taken to Church as a contribution to the big Thanksgiving meal Wednesday evening. Church supplies Turkey and all it’s peripherals and each family brings “other” sides to the meal…it’s always really great. Best noodles I’ve eaten anywhere…!
Produce went well this morning. We had a total of 65 people for Produce. Not quite as many for the Bread Truck. I managed to get a bag of sliced Italian bread, a box of 100% whole wheat bagels and a box of doughnut holes. In the way of produce, I brought home a couple of purple onions, 5 bananas, & 1 sweet red pepper.
The rain started right around 9 a.m., and still coming down, moderately heavy at times, otherwise a steady rain. We had Produce inside the gym.
Instead of our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta today, I decided on the following:
-
Tomato basil soup w/grilled cheese or PB&J sandwiches and garden salad
-
Cream of broccoli soup (with above mentioned sandwiches)
-
Beef stew w/baked cornbread
Everyone have a good afternoon, keep as dry and warm as possible and take care. See you all later.
#1 (gr chz) and ranch dressing.
They are talking rain/snow mix for overnite. Ugh!
Driver thought I was nuts because I have been cold all day. So I stuck my nose in his hand. Cold & Wet! Must be very, very healthy!
Played Mrs. Domestic yesterday. Curtains a lot cleaner. Paying for it today!
Meteorological prognosticators indicating precipitation for us later tonight. By the looks of the radar, they’re right on the mark. It’s been a good run weatherwise, though, and this coming weekend actually looks decent as well.
Got the mulch on the bulb garden out front, so that’s ready for winter.
Next big outdoor projects are getting the snowblower out and putting the mower away, and Christmas decorations - which can wait until after Turkey Day.

Good morning from Carolina. 55 and partly clear an hour before sunrise. Since I seem the first one here, the diner is open, with the usual fare on the bar and juices or soft drinks available at the fountain.
We had some rain last night, along with some heavy weather west of us. Apparently, no damage from any of it.
I am an early riser today, since the wife and the girls are have a snoring contest. Sounds like the battle of Midway in here…
More later. Enjoy yourselves
Good Wednesday morning. Tom, thanks so much for taking care of breakfast this morning. I appreciate the help you guys give me around here.
At 6:07, we have 43 degrees w/cloudy skies. Rain is out of here, at least until about tomorrow afternoon or evening. Then, we’re to get more rain. Figures, I have my last meeting tomorrow afternoon at 1:30.
Not much happening around here this morning. The cats and I are the only ones awake and moving around. Walt is still getting his beauty rest. Sarah’s working.
Everyone have a good morning, keep warm and dry and take care.
I wonder if it is “if this is Wednesday, it is snore day”? Driver is usually a very quiet sleeper, but last nite was a little on the noisy side.
Up to now, we have always had a dog or a cat and it would always rattle me for a minute to wake up to a third party snoring.
morning
cold and damp out now.have errands to run this afternoon.Tom thanks for breakfast.time to get matt on the bus.

Our morning started off a bit unusual. Everyone up, including our little pup {miniture Dachshund}, @ 11 lbs…Getting everything started and next it’s time to put “Ella” out to do her business in the yard.
I opened the patio door and out she went in a normal fashion, and while that was happening, I walked over to the west window in the family room, just to see if any more leaves came to visit us…There standing along side the house was a pretty good sized deer…! Not knowing what that might do with pup, etc…I hurried out to get to the little pup, and by that time she was chasing it around the front of the house, where we found 2 more deer…Not sure just how many there actually was, as Jean was seeing some on the east side at about the same time…Perhap two to five…
To my surprise as I hurried around to the front of the house, and called our pup as she had chased the deer in that direction…To my surprise “Ella” came to me and we got her into the house. She is so interested in the squirrels out back near the big trees on the golf course, but these deer this morning…that was something different for her…and us.
Although we see deer tracks here between the houses in Wintertime in the snow…They sure did surprise me and the pup this morning.
We have sunshine and a few fluffy clouds this morning, and low 40s for temp. Should be a dry day.
Carpet cleaners coming about noon, so that requires a bit of prep. And must get that accomplished.
Q - just saw a news video of a cat challenging one and then two alligators. Seems the smaller guys are more intimidating than their larger family members.
Deer get confused this time of year. We see them on our streets every so often (our pop is about 250K so not small town) Also - hunting season so what better place to hide than next to family home sans dog/cat. [tup]
Jen…I did see that news video with the cat staring down two alligators. Believe it even took a swing with a paw at one of them…!
That was really neat.
And these deer really were a surprise…but this is not the first time we’ve seen deer here or running down the golf course fairway.
Out here in the valley, we do not see any deer or such, but people on the benches, and others on the east side, do have to watch for deer and other quadrupeds (including an occasional big cat).
The only wild life I have observed are birds–no squirrels or other rodents (from time to time, I do have to set a mousetrap or two in the house). Several years ago, we had a duck and a drake, along with a young dog. If you were in the yard, and looking at the drake, he would behave as though you were nothing to him, but when you started away from him, he would start after you, with his head down, until you turned to look again, whereupon he would stop and say, “What, I wouldn’t dream of going after you.” One day, we did not see him at all, but we did find a beakin the yard. Did the young dog (not as big as he was) finish him off?
Tom, I presume, since you have said nothing about your medical situation, that you have heard nothing, either good or bad?
Bright and sunshiny this morning.
Got back home about an hour ago; went to the grocery, to do more shopping, hoping to stock up on things for next week. Trying to avoid the Thanksgiving- rush -to -the- grocery- store -people. Lines weren’t too backed up, either!
Weather’s not too bad out, either. A little bit of a breeze, but sun shining brightly.
Quentin, Mookie, Johnny, et. al., we don’t usually seen any deer in our neighborhood. About the only wildlife we see are the mice, rats, squirrels, possums, and have seen one or two raccoons.
For this afternoon and tonight, you have a nice selection (I think) to whet your appetites:
-
Leftover soups/stew
-
Turkey (little bit left)
-
Chinese rice (beef, chicken, pork, shrimp and house with a little bit of all of the mentioned rices)
-
Tacos, burritos, Spanish rice, chimichangas, fajitatas, quesadillas
Everyone enjoy, have a good evening, take care and see you all later.
cw thanks for supper.errands are done.as far as deer we have deer, squirrels, rabbits etc come by in our back yard once in awhile.Thats what happens when you have woods for a neighbor.Time to check matts homework then its off to get things ready for work.

Oh, Quentin, I forgot ask if Ella called for the carpet cleaners.[:)]
Well Johnny, if she could have…she should have. She was a new pup to us this past Spring. She did pretty good, but a niece & nephew came up from Florida in April for the Summer…{they have purchased a small house here to use in that season}, and they too have a Dachshund pup and the two would get together quite often, and somehow they got into a spare bedroom and got a bit too active…
So it was time to try to take care of that situation. {Resolve didn’t quite do it}…And the result…has been everything now back to “normal”…The white carpet in that room now has cleaned up just fine.
But since we had it done over the complete house, it required some, {more than some}, furniture moving. So glad that process is complete.
Just some of the furniture is back in place for tonight. The rest will be done tomorrow.
Good Thursday morning everyone. 44 degrees and light rain here in Louisville this morning. It is supposed to clear up sometime this afternoon.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, and the regular breakfast menu is on the serving station.
I have a couple of large soup/stew pots on the stove, simmering for this afternoon/evening. One pot has vegetable beef soup, and the other pot minestrone soup. Today’s the day (afternoon) I have my final meeting to go to. Appointment is for 1:30, but will probably leave just before or after noon, to go catch a TARC bus.
Everyone have a good day, keep dry (if you’re in the rain zones) and take care.
