Rich is right. Sad day. I remember when it all started happening adn then traveling to the Triangle for a meeting. When I left, not a plane in the sky and we were right at RDU International. Seeing the buildings fall. Then seeing the folks walking home from NY was something. My Mom use to tell me about what she was doing and how she flet when she heard about Pearl Harbor. Now I know.
I must be having issues with my pc email and phones…haven’t received my invitation and driving instructions to the lake yet. Re the high cost of food, I was looking forward to just throwing a line in the lake and waiting for the host to swing by with the veggies from the garden. [swg]
If you are talking about the 9-11-01 disaster, I couldn’t believe what I heard from somebody that morning that the twin towers in NYC were struck by airplanes. I was driving a bus for Community Coach up in Stuart FL when I heard a relative of the person I just picked up mention something about a trajedy in New York, I was almost in shock at the news coming across the TV set at work on lunch break. Almost thought the BIG war(WW3) had started!
Directions: go SOUTH and when you reach the NC line on I 85, look for Henderson NC and HWY 39 west exit. Drive west along HWY 39 crossing the lake several times. When you see a sign that says, “State Line 6”, you almost there. Then a sign, “Ponderosa Second Right”, your are closer. Next sign will be “Ponderosa” with arrow pointing right. Follow that highway until you go into VA [you will always know VA as the road narrows]. When you come the end of the road, turn left and face the REB pickets. [:O] If you get by, first right is Bonanza Trail [which is a loop], look left and when you see the big metal boat shed, you have found it. BTW: watch for flying lead if you have a Yankee license plate. [}:)][(-D]
I was watching Fox News on my satellite TV waiting for the bell on the NYSE when the picture switched to the first plane hitting tower 1. At first I thoughtmy TV had shifted to a Speilberg movie, as the full horror of the occasion sank in I lost control and cried like a baby. It reminded me of the films of Buchenwald and Auschwitz I saw at the news cinema as a six year old child in 1945. I remember I buried my face in my mothers lap. Two scenes I shall never forget…
CTT arrived this morning-inspiration from Carl Swanson-a shut up bed as a home for Lionel! All may not be lost, pencil and paper will be out tomorrow [who needs ERNI and CAD when I trained as an engineering draughtsman].
Great meal. Full. Had surprise WRAL-TV interview. That same old subdivision has some Yanks and they are still whinnng. It is solved. Told TV lady, they are beating a dead horse to death. Later
Jack, first picture is the metal building for boats and jet ski. The other building is an enclosed and floored building that the original owner stored his boat in. Pretty big. Think that may end up with a dogbone layout running around the edge of three sides of the building. storage/shop in the middle. Then there is another enclosed building for storage with a side storage for lawnmower and another side storage with door for golfcart. Then there is a two car metal carport. Plenty of storage space. See the front yard and how it rolls downward. Wife is already planning gardens and probably several levels of water garden. OH MY ACHING BACK!!
Did not run interview. Bet my telling them this was old news and all settled gave it a low priority. Very humid here. Watching WC and Ike. Got a lot of fishing buddies in Houston. Later.
Jack on the clickable link I left thats your decission on what it means let your own mind guide you LOL
…BTW: watch for flying lead if you have a Yankee license plate.
Jack you could always come here first and borrow my truck as it has South Carolina Tags on it[:-^]
CSXECT I checked out the place you sent me info for and the closest place is like 2 hours driving time away. I’m working with our dietian at work and seem to be doing fair to good. acually very good can’t lose overnight as didn’t get it that way.
Evening all doing well tonight was having some minor problems earlier but just haven’t really given body chance to rest as even day took off ran here and there and stayed up lste to top it off. Came home early today as was sweating to easy today and was weak again but no pains in chest [:)] So took a nap and heading to bed in a few anyway.
It is good to hear that you are working with a dietian, follow thier instructions to the letter and keep them informed to any change in body workings such as dizzyness pains and hunger/cravings. It does not matter what diet you follow it is that first step that makes a difference.[tup]
Kurt - got it! Hey, you should take pics all long and create a photo essay thread from beginning to end here on the ctt site, I’d really love to see that and I’ll be others would as well. [tup] I’ll let you have my share of banilla for a week if you do [;)]
Rich - you are right. I dropped off kids and went to work. Sat down, put on headphones and thought, what are they talking about. When I heard about that first plane, I immediately thought we’re at war. I know a guy who was there a week earlier and went to the top of one of the towers. Another lady who grew up down the street from me works just down the street from there and had to walk out through all that stuff. I will never forget this. They let us go home early and all I wanted to do was get my kids and get to our house. My friend Debbie was renting a house at the time that had been rented previously by one of the hijackers. Cops checked her out and also had reporters asking her questions. [:(!]
John (jefelectric) and DougDaGrump - I like to roast a pork loin with some garlic and dry mustard, but that rotisserie sounds great too! Wish I had a gas stove-top, that is best I agree. Esp if you like to cook in big heavy pans or with a wok sometimes.
Doug, had a great time last night, thanks for that rootbeer! Kurt, thanks for fixing the heater in the pool down on the 23rd floor, Don’s neighbor was getting a little chilly. Luckily, Sir James was there to comfort her [;)] I’ve got some Sam Adams and Old Mills, so let’s swing by and see if Laz needs some distracting from his Legacy delay!
RT - glad you are taking it easy - be safe!
PS - one week until the great CRAPPIE MASSACRE OF MATTON LAKE!
A sunny day but no trains, sorry about that its just the way it is. The wife and I did some shopping at Target and my favorite place, the dollar store. Most places dropped reg. back to $3.65 but its still too high, crude dropped almost two dollars again today. Friday is almost here so make the best of it.
I purpled my finger with a hammer working on bench work today[|(][banghead][D)][(-D] I used it as an excues to eat some off brand chocolate icecream.[dinner] About ready to paint the table, top will be traditional green, sides and legs will be lionel orange and blue lettering and lionel logos[8D]
