2008 [PART 2] and the Coffee Pot is still on and now 4 years old. Here we gather as friends with trains. Sweet ice tea too.

Actually I think I may have found a fix so I may stop in there tonight to see about picking it up again.

Yeah he went to Cotoctin to place his MTH Vol 2 order.

We can’t run smoke in the trainroom any more… Susie-Q is allergic to it all. [tdown]

Jim - Finito-Finito! I walk this Saturday. [tup]

Jason - I’ll refrain from shouting… but no the Allegheny is not running. There is something wrong with the smoke board that is causing the R2LC to overheat and eject the ‘pot’ from the board which shutsdown the smoke unit. I picked the Allegheny up on Saturday but there is now something else wrong with it, have to drop it off at the LTS today. They’ll get it back to the way it was when I took it in, someone was probably working on it and forgot to tell me! [;)]

Sounds like everyone had an enjoyable Mother’s day. It was beautiful here, 60 and sunny. A big change from a couple of years ago when we got 9 inches of rain and a lot of folks wound up with free swimming pools in their basements. Granddaughter (4) sheared off the handle on our main floor bathroom toilet in the middle of Saturday night’s pre Mom’s day get together at my house…had to pull off the tank lid and operate flush arm by hand. Then my wife calls down from second floor, toilet on seconf floor won’t flush. Founf the water valve was stuck closed and couldn’t get it to free up. What is it with women and toilets?

Chuck…was glad your B-day was a happy one. I heard you got your thrills on Blueberry Hill, but you got your kicks when you turned 66. What’s that all about?

Dennis…after following your unbelievable work schedule lately, I thought it would be a nice touch to let you know today is Tuesday, May 13, 2008.

Jason…bummer Mother’s Day for your Mom. Prayers. I suggest a surprise Mother’s Day get together in a couple of weeks when she feels up to it. THE DAY is not sacrosanct, but celebrating the occasion is. She’ll appreciate it all the more.

Fife…why do you always catch the fewest fish when you go angling? Old Mil beer cans are not bait.

Laz…are you getting (another) tatoo to cover your scar?

Chief…thanks for the CSX update. The railroad has been advertising in MA. recently. Apparently they were “suspended” from operations in the State because of repeated safety violations and are meeting with State Pols trying to get back in.

Roy…I read y

RockIsland - …even harder to catch fish when I haven’t dropped a line in the water. Plus, I imbibe in stronger “spirits”…[oX)]

Fife…Playing hard to get with the fish works about the same as it did with the girls in your youth. It doesn’t.

Jack

Morning all. Sunny and cold here in Chicago. Big work week as we slowly cut over a website I’ve been working on since Jan. Saw the daughter dance last eve. Been watching her since she was three - now almost 17. You have many more recitals to go to, Dennis!

Have to chat with the middle boy about some pricey numbers he’s been texting.[banghead]

RockIsland, how do you keep up with all the forum doings? I’m so impressed. I seem to forget something just as soon as I read it. Forum dementia I guess.[%-)]

Brent, congratulations on finishing the degree![tup]

John, I have an idea about the issue Don referenced. Run a Web feed to your camera so we can watch it for you [;)]

This may be a long post with some pictures on various stuff I’ve been yamerring about.

First, a couple from our clubs Operating Session:

I found this “transistion car” really interesting, never seen one before.

The next 2 are a little more typical of the “pre session” activity. While we are trying to get organized a couple of guys get a little anxious and hit the rails. ALL of our derailments have happened before we actually start.

Once we get started, more like this;

Now, some of the work we did on the layout over the weekend.

We got the Fireworks Stand, Oil Derrick, Coal Loader all working. The fireworks stand was intenionally possitioned close to the oil well, so we could have a good high platform for displays. The signal bridge is NOT hooked up. All the accessories work off the DCS controller, REALLY COOL !!

Its crowded but it all fits and functions, Barrel Loader, Brewery, (back wall) Culvert Loader, and Saw Mill, Crane is manual.

Our business district, currently undergoing some redevelopment. Electricity has just been finished in area, (work crews left a outhouse, blue building between the McD’s and Theatre. The 2 stations are seperated by a dispatch board. (Notice the white lines in the background behind the theatre.)

HI GIZ again,

Forgot to mention watched Modern Marvels last nite and they had on history of FRIEGHT TRAINS. Was a rerun but still pretty good. They had some footage of the JOHNNY BULL, that I missed the first time.

JACK, I need a whole bunch o tatoos for my whole body. Was thinking of doing the cammoflage pattern, mascarade as a big bush?

laz57

Laz,

I have the perfect product for you… Tattoo Paper, print on it with your ink jet, cut the image out, then it is a thin film that you apply directly to your skin. Will last 3-4 days.

DON,

Will it last while taking a shower? I only like going 3-4 days without a shower only when I’m in the wilds of CANADA, even then sometimes I can’t take myself and got to jump in the lake.

laz57

Yes, only come off with cold cream.

Well heres were we are so far. was supose to have an appraisel turned in yesterday so far not there yet its the only hold up at this time. I have to pay $300.00 for this pokeyness and pull what hair I have left out waiting. This is what is holding up the loan aproval.

anyway off today and tomorrow so I’m helping misses move things around so she can vacum and I’m doing some packing as I do all this

Laz…just make sure they spell your wife’s name correctly. [:D]

Jack

First things first:

RT - hang in there, bud…[tup]

JMKK - prayers for yer Mom

Chuck - a belated [bday], and a national holiday, at that!

A belated Happy Mothers Day to all you Mothers out there…[:-^]

Brent - Don’t “walk”, dude, ya gotta “cruise” up there to get yer sheepskin…[swg]

Had just an awesome time up home. Monday was a bummer, driving through the Nor’easter to the airport (Newark Liberty, of course). Was with Mom all day Mothers Day (first time in 15 years). Had dinner with the family and my friends on Sunday.

Big 16th Surprise party for my daughter, she had gone to a jr. prom Firday night and she was exhausted. But she hung in there, and a great time was had by all. FINALLY saw my God-daughter (after 9 years), was in the Air Force, served in Texas, Japan, & Idaho, been married, pregnant, has a son, divorced and married, then retired AF since I last saw her. Will be stationed in SC (Shaw AFB) next year, when her husband comes back from a tour in Korea. Trying to scam a way back up there in July…hmm, we’ll see…[swg]

Brent, the “move” is off, my superior red flagged the app, so I’m out (for the time being…)[sigh]. It was tough to do it via fax and e-mail, 'specially since I wasn’t at a faster terminal…deadline was yesterday.

OK, talk to ya later…and no, I wasn’t in Rahway (did pass it twice, though…[:-^]

Rich,
No problem… your work superior or the house boss?

Walking? I’ll be lucky if I can crawl up to the stage at this point. [:O]

The “employment” boss…she dosen’t want me to leave…just yet. Says I’m too “valuable”…[banghead]

anjdevil - Wow. You’re God-daughter accomplished a lot in 9 years…[8]

Yeah, she did good. Her “X” was a pu—, I mean a wimp. She said that she was the “man of the house”, he didn’t do much. He’s still USAF, in Idaho. I missed seeing the “kid” by 3 days, the God-daughter and her Mom are flying out today to go fetch him. Her new husband is USMC, now working for a gov’t contractor with all the mil bennies…doing great. I’ll probably see them Thanksgiving, if I can get up there. Next year, we’re planning to get to SC to help them out with the new “house”!

Jack, TUESDAY…This is TUESDAY! (Right?). You are correct in that the days seem to blend together. Fortunately, we have windows in the heart rooms and the outer corridor so I can tell if it is day or night. It has been crazy.

Brent, Congratulations! Now you and Susie Q can get back to being a couple without that class work getting in the way.

Rich, We are heading to NJ in July. Will be in Manasquann/Pt. Pleasant if you make it up that way. Let me know.

Well, I am actually finished with my case and hoping to head to the house soon. If I have enough time, I will put the second storm door on the back deck before having to get ready for the movie screening tonight. I will check in later. Hope everyone has a great day.
God Bless,

Dennis

OK… bonehead question of the day. I thought Lionel/Williams/MTH engines were AC (I’m talking modern engines manufacturered in the last 15 years). I’m looking to upgrade my MTH C&O Streamlined Hudson to TMCC and am not sure if I need the DC or AC version… [banghead]

Good afternoon,

Doug & Don, After Don’s post I was thinking that what I need is a web feed so he could watch me running trains to make sure I was using proper operating procedure.

The weather man pulled a nice trick on us, the day turned out to be Sunny and warm, 70 degrees when I last checked, that is the kind of mistakes I like.

Stopped at Barry’s and he had a ton of freight cars in the special section, both traditions sized and scale stuff, he bought another collection. Picked up three I could not resist. A Lionel PRR caboose, a Lionel PRR merchandise car and an MTH PRR merchandise car. Saw two of the all door box cars that Don likes but he declined, due to space limitaions. While I was sitting there talking to Don a Mom and three children came in and the two older ones, 3 & 5? made a bee line for the Thomas layout. The little sister 1-1/2? was even getting into it when I left. Nice to see kids into trains. Hope they keep the interest.

Tomorrow is Musuem day and then to a dinner threatre with Son & DIL, so probably won’t be checking in untill Thursday.
