February Coffee Pot 2016. 11 years old. Wonderful grits and sweet ice tea for the southern gents. Coffee and oatmeal for the Yanks.

After the race I did my final look over on the Grapple install for lines and I think I have a plan, but then you know how that can work. [banghead] I will have to go to Peru tomorrow because they don’t have farm stuff at Farm & Fleet anymore. [:(!] They have lost track of what their name means. So it will a trip to Rural King tomorrow.

SJ I saw four robbins today here. [:D]

The race was Okay but had to go to Krogers when it started but did get in on the last 1/2. They sure did some nice things at the track for the fans. Doubt the George family would ever do that for Indy. That place could use some up grades at least the last time I was there. Oh sure they got everything for the rich, but the regular fan, well they are years behing what Daytona had before the up-grade. The other NASCAR tracks, not so much from what I have seen.

No train news, but I did run them the night before last for about a 1/2 hour.

Phish, that sucks. I have been there and at older ages it is only worse. Can you retire yet?

Good Evening from mild (mid 50’sF) and wet Southern Ohio,

Thanks guys for your words and prayers. I am 60, and will draw full retirement from the company and they are offering a generous severance package and I’ll cash out 592 hours of vacation, so I am blessed in that regard. There are some openings in with other contractors for jobs that I would qualify for and have done in the past so I’ll continue to submit resumes.

I am blessed with great health, and I look at being laid off as a blessing too because I do not know yet what doors may open. It does get me off shift work and can spend more time with my family.

Thanks again

May God bless you guys

Jim

Started converting a Marx 490 into a saddle tanker today. Gonna need a new cab, pilot, and mechanism. Also put some of my collection on the market, hoping to get enough funds to finish some tooling work I started a little bit ago. Who knows, Mebbe a few new engines and some passenger cars will finally make it onto the market lol.

Good evening all,

Got some projects done around the house today. Picked up the yard, replaced a light fixture in the barn and took out a storm window screen no longer needed. Watched some of the taxicab race. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mon. 87/52 Tue. 88/54 These temps are way above normal. was this way last week and also this week.

I go to a big church Sat. at 5:00 and have been talking to this lady off and on for years. I first met her at Vintage, out Tue. morning seniors group but she has to work.

I had forgot her name so for a couple of years I’ve been embarrassed to ask her her name.

Last night she suggested we become Facebook friends, she’s good with computers and immediately set that up on her phone. Now I know her name.

She volunteers for the media at church on Sat. and Sun. she drives a tram. She told me once

Hey sometimes just having a companion around is all that counts

Mornin’ boys. Sunny & 41 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Fifepops duty today. Hopefully will be mild enough for a little outside time. Wifey still undecided on WV prospects.

Phish - Can’t keep a good man down. You’ll be fine.

Morning all!

Got some light rain last night. Not much.

Phish - good to hear.

Built some new shelves in garage yesterday. Slowly getting rid of steel floor shelving. Too hard to clean under them. New ones attached to wall.

Aloha from a sunny and colder Chicago. Certainly enjoyed the 50 degree temps last week but, boy howdy, as Roy said, the wind sure was howling. Scared poor Torben the Wonder Dog too. I like those metal shelves, Roy. I have them in the basement and you are right, they are impossible to clean under, (and they rust) but I would’ve come by the pick them up if I lived down the street [:D]

SJ, I’m glad you saw a robin; that is always a sign that the weather might have finally turned (though we are supposed to get 3 inches of snow on Wed. Ha!). Thanks for the video heads-up too, SJ. I love visiting those layouts!

Worked at church this weekend; getting a bit tired of it - told them they have to find another person to do what apparently only I can do for them; the youngest got up sick late last night or was it early this morn, so he is home from school today. Fortunately, he’s old enough to stay by himself.

8n, congrats on the CAD training. One of my relatives who has struggled in lots of things just earned a cert in CAD Drafting. it sounds interesting. Kind of like what I learned but used to do on a large drafting table. Not too useful anymore (along with my mad slide rule skills) [:)]

Stur-Jim, I hope you find something new that is interesting and lucrative too - wil lpray for that.

Doug, There’s a Disney store just up State St. and they sell lots of these figures - the figurines at their website are fantastically expensive: they are large for our scale but frankly perfect for the Thomas line that is a bit larger: http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Alice-Wonderland-Figure-200647/dp/B003DV55R6

Hello There,

Been MIA lately. Feel like a long tailed cat in a room full of rockers. Started a post Friday after frying fish but my phone was doing silly things. I ended up dozing off while phone restarted… The fist week due to lousy cold weather we only served 514. A nice day this past Friday brought us 795.

Son’s progress is slow on the truck. He hopes to be ready to start installing the body next weekend.

Fife…hope you find a basement soon. Make sure it’s dry.

RT…glad Kitty made it home.

Kev…The grapple looks good.

I’ve been treating the Ash trees in my yard. Hope it works

Phish…prayers for your job hunt…Can you afford to retire?? Your grand kids go to a Catholic Grade school? The diocese recently said they were closing our parish school. We said think again. It’s our school and you can’t close it. If we get half of the kids that say they’re coming we should be fine.

Mom has been keeping us stepping. Seems to be on the decline

There have been a couple of hardy robins hanging around here all winter.

Seven weeks till YORK

Best mo

Morning guys, slept in to wipe off the after Datona race beers. Just checked the bank account and heading out the door for grapple hoses and fittings. Maybe it will be working today. Hope so because they are talking a 4"+ snow mid week and I will need to put the snow plow back on. SO would be nice to finish this up first.
Sunny this morning and 30F degrees with heavy frost when I got up. Their talking 40F later and cloudy.

Jim… Sorry to hear about the job loss. I’m betting they will find a way to reopen the enrichment plant in Southern Ohio.

Here is the grapple install for those of you who get into stuff like this.

Kevin…Are the chains on for snow removal?

York…Not going to happen this spring. [:(]

Kevin the jaws of death

Buckeye so sorry to hear your not making York was hoping to meet you finally.

Well lightened my wallet today or should say the Plumber did.

Nothing train wise today just relaxing now. Hope all had a good day.

Buckeye, yes for the snow plow on ice. [;)] Those chains even only on the front make a world of grab.

I had to get her done because they were calling for more snow. Now not so sure, but no snow is fine with me.

Good evening all,

Frustrating day at work. Frustrating night at home. Wife is feeling better and is slowly recovering from her ailments so that is good news. Lucas called to say he will be “baching” it for the next 2 weeks to 2 months as fiancee has to take care of her mom who broke a leg. Other issues with vehicles as well. Daughter’s divorce keeps dragging on. Except for the present company here, I sometimes think the world consists of people with questionable intelligence…myself included. KRM, that is one cool looking device. I am not totally clear on the purpose, but then see the prior sentences. Did have a good walk today. Jane the Virgin was a good episode tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Evening

Thanks guys for all the support. Put in a few more resumes, regulatory oversight, conduct of operations, type work.

It was beautiful today; mid 60’s and sunny. Like others did some yard work.

KRM-that grapple looks awsome! That will be handy as a shirt pocket.

Buckeye-There are plans for a massive dump sight here on the DOE reservation. As far as uranium enrichment, the goverment just threw that ball away just like they did in 1985 when we had the centrifuge plant operating before.

Good night and may God bless

Jim

Morning all - a good day here, as last night I accepted a contract for a new project that should run at least through the end of the year. Will have a little less time to work on my trains than the past couple of months, but some cashflow is a good thing too! First meeting is 9AM today.

32 going to 46 cloudy. Depending on who you listen to rain or snow tomorrow?
Guess I will put the snow plow back on JIC.
The Frost is rising and the place is a mess of mud and the deer tracks are deep and all over in the grass I had better get some grass seed and let them set it for me. [(-D]

MikeC, Back on page six there is a video of a grapple working.
